Cleansing is, undoubtedly, the most important step in your skincare routine. A thoroughly washed and cleansed face means that any products applied afterwards will sink into the skin and work more effectively. Many of the products we invest in are pricey and list incredible ingredients with promises to rejuvenate our complexions, so it seems like a no-brainer that we want them to work optimally.
We all know the importance of washing our face, but there are ways to super-charge your skincare routine. Here are some tips on rethinking your cleansing routine not only to save you time, but also to make your products last longer.

NOT DOING A PROPER CLEANSING
There has been a discussion in the beauty industry whether double cleansing is a better way to cleanse your skin both in the mornings and in the evenings. Personally, I believe that one cleanse is more than enough when it is done properly. It’s so important to ensure you’re looking after your skin effectively as cleansing refreshes tired skin, helps reduce the skins of gaining, fights the effects of air pollution on the skin and leaves us feeling pampered and ready to face the day.
To achieve the best possible results I suggest that you invest in a cleansing tool that will help you to tailor your cleansing routine to your skin’s needs. For me the tool of choice for the past month has been the LR Zeitgard Cleansing Brush Kit. The brush provides me with a gentle, yet deep cleansing of my skin using vibration/oscillation technology. The manufacturer promises up to 10 times more effecting cleansing that does not burden the skin and with each cleansing I can feel the results more and more. My skin is radiantly clean after each procedure and it feels so smooth to the touch that I cannot wait for my next cleanse! And the best part – you can use the brush every day as the antibacterial microsilver technology of the bristles are super gentle to the skin.
NOT CLEANSING TWICE A DAY
We all know the importance of the evening cleanse which removes the oil, dirt and debris from our skin as well as makeup from the day. However, we should never skip a morning cleanse as well even if we have spent the whole night just sleeping. The morning cleanse wakes up the skin, increases circulation, and clears away dead cell. The purpose of it is to prepare the surface of the skin to effectively absorb any daytime products. So make an effort to include an everyday cleanse each morning and I am sure that you will see the good results right away.

USING THE WRONG CLEASER FOR YOUR SKIN
This seems to be self-explanatory but the wrong type of cleanser can lead to so many skin problems that it’s better to do your research carefully before purchase. Of course, the cleanser you choose vary depending on your skin type. For me, a gentle gel or foam cleanser works best.
BEING TOO ROUGH
There is a huge difference between cleansing and exfoliating. Your skin does not need to be scrubbed twice a day and being too abrasive can cause problematic skin. Using harsh products is not necessary when you use a gentle cleansing tool and excessive washing can actually irritate skin and worsen breakouts and redness.
Once or twice a week, I use a micro-peeling purifying gel with my LR Zeitgard Cleansing Brush, concentrating on the areas of my skin that need extra attention (around my nose and chin), as opposed to using a strong product or harsh exfoliants which may irritate my skin. Once my routine is complete, I pat the skin dry gently, absolutely no rubbing.
